Ok I know this is a stupid ?? but something just dont add up. I am checking the gear raito in my 73 burb did not have the chance to pull the diff cover but I made a mark on the drive shaft and on the tire and spun the shaft, I got 1 3/4 turn per a tire rotation, I did not think 1.75 raito was right so I spun the tire got about the same, I then tryed to spin the tire 10 times and got about 15 3/4 turns.

Some one try to help me make heads or tails WTF is going on here this is driveing me nuts :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :( :(

Did you have one wheel on the ground? IIRC you must have one wheel on the ground then rotate the wheel that is off the ground one revolution and see how many times the driveline spins. I would bet you have 3.73's.

Yes, I did have one or the other tire blocked, Factory it came with a 454 now it has a 500 cdy, not sure if it is oem or not allot of stuff was changed around.

Sounds more like 3.21's than 3.73's. 454 'burb would be 2Wd right?

Best bet is to pull the cover and get the numbers off the ring gear edge.

with 1 tire off the ground, spin the tire two times to get the ratio. if you did it 1 time, you need to double the rotations of the driveshaft because you are turning the spider gears also.
i like to spin it twice to get a more accurate counting than doubling it.

Ok I did not want to, but I am going to pop off the rear diff cover to find out for sure. I am going to run this for a few months till I install something bigger and better. I am rilly hopeing that it is 3.73 just so it can pull alittle bit better, so I dont need to take out a lone every time I want to use it.

The 3.21 ratio was a 2WD only thing...so it's possible. Prolly pull real good with some 24" tires. :)
