my '87 K5 is down with a bad 700R4(again)..... prime time to go ahead and swap my 14 ff and dana 60 in.
I want to get rid of the 700R4 and get a th400. Found the link to the tci tranny above. I should be able to buy it, a np205 and then find me a crossmmember somewhere and be in business right? Anyone know if I will have to buy an adapter too? it says it is set up for a pre-1980 205.

hmmm ...I just found this part # after downloading the TCI catalog. It says in the TCI catalog that it fits a 205, but it will also fit a 208 (w/adapter?)

I dunno, I'll have to call and make sure it's the right one I guess. I was going to buy .used and have rebuilt, but I don't trust anyone around here to do it right

If you have a 32 spline 208 and the 400 to 208 adapter it will bolt right up. To use a 205 you need the 400 to 205 adapter and a short 32 spline 205. The 400 tranny is the same for both the difference in the input for the Tcases is made up in the adapters.

Either way you will need to buy an adapter for the transfer case of your choice.
