so i've been trying to read up on different types of fabric and vinyl paint. some say its great. some say its dook. dupli-color makes some and has mixed reviews. it just seems so ghetto. i guess it is, but it'll turn my black soft top white for like fifty bucks. chime in. this is a winner. :woot:

Don't do it. You could probably sell your soft top, raise a few bucks, and get a white one. But if you paint yours you'll be stuck with it.

The color won't stay on if the top ever gets folded more than a couple times. Most of the vinyl paint stuff isn't made to be in the weather either. It's made for interior stuff that doesn't flex or move very much.

vinyl dye MIGHT work ok depending on the material, but there is a HUGE difference between vinyl dye and paint..

and the fact you want to go white makes it an impossible task anyway. turning a white one black, sure... vice versa, not a chance in he!!...

I wouldn't do it,either. Dyes work fine in the interior, even on seat which actually do a lot of flexing,as in every time you sit on them or go over bumps. Vinyl dye is formulated specifically for flexing. But,as mentioned, these dyes are for "interior" not a top set out in the sun. And,with white? What about trying to keep it clean? The more you scrub...I think you'd be spending $50 to ruin the top.

these cats prolly speak the truth
although hardly the resposes you were hopin for:doah:

do you regret givin away yer hardtop now by any chance?
that woulda been an easy project ta make white

yes and no. hard top woulda been painted already, but i like the soft top look and ease to take it down on nice days. especially because my exhaust chokes me out in the cab. No vinyl paint for me. I'll be in the market for a white top some day. Thanks all.

Paint your Blazer to match the black top ...I'm just sayin" :dunno:

You can get pretty good money towards your white top from selling the black one,I'd think. I know how it is to want what you want. I had a '71 Blazer that was dark green with white wheels, bumpers, and brush guard. When I went for a soft top they told me all that was available was black. I complained that the catalog shows Blazers available in white and they said their distributor didn't carry it. "Then, have them order one from the mfgr...we can do this!" They made some calls and said I could have it but would have to pay a freight charge. "Have them put it on the same truck with the black ones,I'll wait." So,I ended up with my white top for the normal cost but had to wait a while. I was very happy.
