Am i the only one that likes the stock steering wheel?

I swapped out this Lecarra steering wheel for a 92 stock steering wheel.
I promised to offer it up here.
If anybody wants this aftermarket wheel, let me know.
I'll ship it and you can just pay me back the shipping.
Wheel itself is free.
Comes with the wheel, horn button, and horn button wire.
You can re-use your steering wheel nut.
It swaps directly in place of the stock wheel.
Anyhow, let me know if anyone from this thread wants it.
Wheel is free, just reimburse me the shippings after you get the wheel.
If not, i'll list it in classifieds here.

PM sent. It's going to a good home (My k5).
Now I get to go visit that cute gal at the post office.
I just shaved my winter beard.
She is newly single.
And she likes my rusty 76 k5.. wait till she sees the 86 m1009.
Anyhow.. going to the biiigg city!
The shining metropolis of Lovell Wyoming!

I love the stock wheels in my '83 K5 and my '81 C30. They just feel right.
X2, except mine are an 88 K5 and a 79 C20. I love the C20 wheel and think the K5 has the same one..........I would have to double check. The later steering wheels in this thread look like poo. They are too fat and ugly. The one I like is pretty skinny and simple and not blocky looking.

Someone said I should run a smaller wheel since I sit close, but the big wheel combined with the power steering make it very easy to steer and much preferred to the two 2005 1500 chevy pickups that family members have.

When I worked at the junkyard we found many steering wheels on various brands of cars & trucks all had the same splines and the colum collar diameter was a perfect or close match--so your not limited to just GM steering wheels...

I have an 87 and have a 4 spoke wheel I want to use. The 87 has a horn button but the 4 spike has a wire. How can I mount the new 4 spoke?

I enjoy the look of the 4 spoke chevy wheel, just wish mine wasn't slick (still had the texture on it like new.

I've never been a fan of stock wheels in anything up to around model year 2000 vehicles. The diameter of the outside rim as your hands wrap around it (as opposed to the diameter across the whole wheel) always felt too small to me, and that's where many of the aftermarket wheels are better. Unfortunately, the aftermarket ones are almost always too small in diameter across the wheel. I have a Grant 502 classic in the K5 now, and I hate it because the overall diameter is much too small for a truck. I have no problem seeing the gauges through it, but I feel like I have to muscle the truck around every corner, and it really blows when I have to make a quick steering input. Seems very few aftermarket companies make steering wheels in stock diameters without going to stupid expensive wheels. Even Grant only makes one 16" wheel, and it's the classic series...which I think would look very goofy in my '86, lol.

Now what I'd really LOVE to have in there is the same factory wheel that's in my '06 Cadillac STS. That thing is just plain all day comfy :) But I'd even be happy with something like the Grant Challenger 4 spoke if it came in a stock diameter. No way would I be putting a 13" wheel in a truck on 35s, even with beefy power steering.

I prefer the stock steering wheels I had in my 70s trucks and my 86 m1009. Didn't care much for the way the wheel looked in my 89 k5, but it felt good. I don't like any of the aftermarket wheels that were posted in this thread.

Overall, I haven't seen many aftermarket steering wheels that I actually like. I dunno, seems to be one of those things the OEM actually got right. I might use a 59 Impala steering wheel in my 59 Chevy Apache

I remember the oem "bat wing" steering wheel in my '56 Chevy pickup being HUGE!..you needed it to be ,to get enough leverage to steer that thing--manual steering and solid front axle with king pins was like driving a vehicle with P/S ,missing the v-belt!..

Factory Leather wrapped 4 spoke wheel on my 91. They got used in S10's too. That is where mine came from as it was in my Dad's 93 S10 Blazer 4door.

The base trucks were just basic rubber/vinyl, but the uplevel trucks got the leather wrap on the rim. I have big hands so the chunkier/thicker wheel is more comfortable to me. The leather wrap gives it a little more thickness over the base one. Plus they are a lot thicker than the pre-88 wheels.

My next favorite factory wheel would be the 79-81 Z28 "rope" style 4 spoke wheel. Again, it's thicker rim diameter is more comfy to my bear claw hands. It's actually the wheel I have in my 69 Nova. I had a similar Vega GT 4 spoke which is identical but without the "rope" on the Nova, but the rim was thinner. I actually found my Z28 wheel in a boneyard and it was slightly deformed due to the wreck it was in. I left it bolted to the column and put my feet on the dash and pulled it back straight.
