Is it true? There are no American made brake drums anymore? No Raybestos...Wagner? :dunno:

Could be...there ain't much of anything made in the USA now...:(

Last time I saw Raybestos ones ,the box said "Made in Canada" on it..

Just about all the rotors and drums are now made in Mexico,China,or any other country with no EPA laws regarding foundaries I think...even when I sold parts back in the 80's,most of them were imported...there may be some USA made ones collecting dust on a warehouse shelf somewhere though..

If you plan on keeping your rig, grabbing USA made parts now that won't fail due to age, IMO is always a good idea. Especially OEM stuff.

Swap meets are still good for this. People often don't know what they have, other than the packaging it comes in that says GM.

Sometimes you can score big at swap meets, but most of the sellers at them are now wise to the fact "NOS" = "big bucks"...ditto for "good brand name parts" made in USA...

Unless you come across someone who's liquidating a whole estate or is just getting out of the hobby, chances are slim you'll find much OEM or brand name American made stuff for bargain prices like you used too, some years ago..

Places like Rock Auto and Ebay sellers are buying up all the big bulk deals from dealerships and parts stores going belly up, and selling them piecemeal for a lot of profit..which kinda sucks for us guys looking to build something with "good" parts at a bargain price..but sometimes their prices aren't all that bad..
Case in point,Rock Auto had brand new Wagner master cylinders for my van listed for a whopping $9.10 !..but they were "closeouts" and had only a 30 day warranty..and "only 10 remaining"..but I'd trust one of them over a China rebuilt or new one, even if it did sit on a shelf for 20 years somewhere..
