one of the surplus stores here had army ammontion cans for 10 bucks. I was thinkin of gettin one to put in my truck so i cant put a some first aid supplys and a flash light and some stuff. Will this fit behind the seat of my 84 gmc. Also how would i go about securing this so it dont bounce around while driving .
Thanks
Jason

Make sure it has a good rubber seal to keep it air and water tight. Could drill two bolts into floor. It all depends on what size ammo can your getting.

I dont have any right now but my truck tool box is big and bulky and I really dont need that much room so I plan on finding a couple and securing them in the bed for tools. then Ill get another box to put spare parts in that I can throw in the truck when I go wheelin.

im not sure on the size in seen these in a fyler for a store here ( princess auto ) its gona be in side the cab behind the site if it fits to many a**holes will steal it from the bed i only want to put a few thigns in like a pack of matchs flash ligth first aid kit and pretty much stuff like that. Any pics on how u guys got urs mounted. I plan on putting mine on some sort of clips so it can come off and go back on.

Thanks
Jason

i used a 50cal. ammo box and mounted it under the hood using the tire changing tool clamp holes on the pass. wheel well, store my jumper cables in it. makes a good seat when i'm working on the engine too.

I have two bolted to each corner of the bed behind the rear seat.. They are secure, cause I can tie stuff down to them. I carry all spare fluids in one and tools/cables/ whatever else in the other.

Ammo cans rock!!!! I use several of them. The ones for mortar shells are long and can hold your chains and comealongs and straps and prybars etc. There are about 15 different ones. You can weld them in if you want it permanent. You can build a base out of small angle iron and use a ratchet strap to hold them in, or use a battery holddown for the smaller ones. If you use several of the same size you can build a rack mount so they are stackable. If you use the long ones on there side, you can have access from the back of your truck to eveything you need. They get heavy, but you can keep a tent and/or sleeping bag in one and not worry about them getting wet. Awesome spare parts containers- no moisture= no rust-..... On that note, get a vacuum sealer thing for food at a garage sale and pack wheel bearings or ujoints in grease and seal them up.

i was only plan on putting one behind the seat but thats a good idea one under the hood. Also thanks for the link i think thats how im gona mount mine hehe

Thanks
