I've again got third gear on my SM465 gearbox popping out!!!! :doah:

Problem is that's my climbing gear on sand dunes, so it gets used heavily (in Lo). Last time same symptoms and I replaced the snap-ring, after checking the shifter, etc.

So I've done some research and it seems that Anaheim Gears makes a good fix that includes a cluster spacer to replace the snap-ring, new synchros and heavy-duty springs.

Their website is not working so I'm stuck from over here - here's my question:

Could a kind soul, using a free 800 number, phone Anaheim Gears and find out if they're still in business, when will their site be up again, and do they still sell the fix for third? $$$? Their number should be 800/477-1103.

Here's where I found the third-gear fix info: http://www.4wheeloffroad.com/brandpages/chevy/131_0208_tran/index1.htm

Has anybody used this fix, and how did it work?

Appreciate your help, guys. It sucks running up 2nd to slam into 4th...

New springs for the top= $5 ea...there are 4 of them
New spacer to replace the snap rings= $11.25
New 3rd gear and slider= $120

Those are the 3 possible soloutions for you problem. The new 3rd gear is an updated design.

Just to be sure... the fix is any of the 3 choices, not the combination of all?

The springs and the new 3rd gear are your best bet in my opinion :)

I personally do have a spacer in my tranny, but that is just cause it was already there when I pulled it apart. I can't see how such a small amount of play that a worn snap ring would give could cause the tranny to throw the shift collar off the gear... I can see that happening if one of the snap rings broke and fell off though, lol

Thanks guys.

BranndonC, if you don't mind, I'll take you up on your offer. I can do a one-time Western Union transfer to you, and when you get the money please buy all 3 parts (spacer, springs and 3rd) and mail them to me air mail parcel post.

To find out postage, if Anaheim Gears can give you an estimated weight of the package we can check here for postage cost to the United Arab Emirates: http://postcalc.usps.gov/

Five pounds and under would be $27.95

I don't mind you adding a fair amount for your time, gas and kind assistance.

So, USD 151.25 for the parts, estimated 27.95 for postage, can we make that USD 200? That should leave you with USD 20 for a nice dinner of ribs on me :)

Let me know and we can exchange e-mail addresses.

Sure, I'd be glad to do that for ya. I could go do it on monday or tuesday. My email is projecttorque at gmail dot com

Great - thanks buddy. Hold on 'till you get the money in hand, so we're sure we're all square. Western Union should work out fine, but they have a way of messing up stuff over here like you wouldn't believe. I'll continue via e-mail.

Appreciated, CK5!

I'm searching for their address now, but I'm leaving soon. Can you post it if you find it, and tell me exactaly which part to ask for?

found it, never mind
