Sunday I got to cleaning things up.

Removed plenum and cleaned up the block

Then I started measuring where I'm going to take 16" off of the frame

The blue tape is where I am going to cut a Z at a 30 degree angle and chop out 16"

With the 52' / 56s I plan on running that should put my wheelbase at 117" just where I want to be

Thats all I got for now. Frame will be chopped and fishplated this weekend

I cleaned the other side frame down to bare metal. The amount of scale on the frame was ridiculous. I hate when I waste time prepping metal that will not be in the truck anymore :doah:

Calender truck mod :)

I feel so lazy when I don't want to work on my truck in the cold. Cold being 50ish* Then I see a project sitting in the snow hahaha

Looks pretty ambitious Jess, really getting after it huh?
What did you find on the rear main/intake leaks?

CAn you get a pic of how you are going to Z cut the framerails?

Good luck with stuff man.

Not right now but this weekend you will get the idea. I need to measure the frame height to get the angle right. simple trig calculations ect

Picked up some 64's from a heavy half ton. May have to make adjustments to frame cutting.

Jess I just found this, awesome to see what you are up to. 64s in the back, that's great, with some good shocks those will travel/flex nicely. You'll need a traction bar though!

Are you going to chop the bed to match or build a bed from scratch?

Look forward to seeing your build.

Well i'm debating how I want to do it. I think I'm going to full tube and skins. I got my bender just need to decide if I'm going 2" or 1.75" on the tube, and if I want to cut the bulkhead or not. I think I may chop the top and run the cage on the inside of the what would be cab. The look I'm going for is kinda like the removable top on the vettes

I'm thinking that the cage on the inside will help the body lines flow a bit better and not look so goofy. It will aslo allow me to tie the cage to my rock sliders, wich are attached to the frame.

I have the 13" travel pro comps in the back for now, but will probably switch to the 15's when I can bend up shock hoops. I know with the 64 I'll need a trac bar / anti wrap bar, gonna cross that bridge when I get to it. Once I finalize my wheelbase and driveline anlges then i'll start that.

Yup it is. It is also an addiction. I try to think about how my life would be different if I never bought my k5. But hey its better than drugs, not cheaper but definitely better. :D
No sh!t Jess, I could have probably retired a year earlier if I hadn't started on the IronMaiden yet...oh well, gotta do it while I can:waytogo:
You got some pics coming of the truck?
And man that Vette pic brings back some memories.

I have all day to work on the truck tomorrow so there will be plenty of pictures on sunday.

Well worked on it a little today heres what I did

I measured about 15 million times just to make sure everything lined up

Marked for my Z cut at the 30 degree angle.

Cut and welded the frames back together.

I still have to fishplate over the welds.

I also found out that my frame is not exactly true it bends in and out like an S not a crazy amount but just a little.

hmm the last post the attachments didn't work so lets try again

My final amount of frame cut out was 19"

Wheelbase as it sits now is 112" That will change as I put the 64's and 52s on.

I will explain more in detail tomorrow night or monday but I'm out of time for the night.
