I have been trying to figure out something for speakers for the rear. Ive got some decent fronts, but the sound isnt surround sound. So I found some waterproof Marine Speakers and got the Fourtrek clamps. I know the clamps arent cheap, so I made up the diff in the cheap speakers. lol. To hide the wires I was just going to use white zipties, but when I did a mock up, there was no way to make the wiring look decent. so I decided to get some roll bar padding, this seems to work and also serves as function of not hitting my head or passengers hitting their heads accidentally on the bar.

The first order of business was to get the speaker wire to the back area without going over top of the floor (remember I dont have carpet, ive LIne Xd my interior). So I drilled hole in firewall, put a grommet in hole and feed the speaker wire to the middle of the truck and drill a hole by the roll bar (being that the wire was going to be attached to the roll bar). Under the truck the wire is in loom and feed up to the existing factory wiring that runs front to back.

I was going to put the speakers directly behind the driver and passenger but I didnt like how obtrusive they looked. Its fine for a jeep with the top off, but looked kind of weird in the blazer. Well the cool part of the clamp is I can put the speakers anywhere on the bar I want. For now Ive got them tucked to the side and basically out of the way.

The sound isnt bad. Im not going to win any stereo contests, but its not bad going down the road. I also didnt want to spend alot of money on speakers incase something did happen to them.

Ive got Eclipse speakers in the front and Blaupunkt CD player.

Anyways, on with the picture show.

Here are the clamps, they did NOT come with Allen wrenches. I must say they are very well made and strong. I was able to tighten up the bolts pretty good and there was no sign of weakness.

The speakers are PYramids from a boating place online. I can get specs if someone really cares. they are basically a 2way speaker w/ 3" woofer.

Here they are in the tucked away position. They are sorta resting on the bed rail. The bracket that holds the speaker to the actual clamp is pretty Chinsy. FOr serious off roading, some better brackets would need to be fabbed.

WHere the top padding ends is where I WAS going to put them, but it wouldve hung down pretty far and I didnt like how it looked.

As you can see, they are tucked out of the way

Any questions Id more than happy to answer. Id like to find some smaller lighter and better speaker boxes, but havent come across any. I know kicker makes a nice one, but its twice the size and price of those I bought. I got cheap ones incase this whole project was a bust. lol

nice. my plan is to do something similar with my cage! nice to see it done elsewhere with the marine speakers!

i got 2 6inch marine speakers on ebay for 40 buck just keep looking they were brand new and should have cost over 150. as for the clamps why not just use the bracket that comes with them and screw it into the side or make your own bracket. but if you like it thats cool just cant see it being that loud

Actually it doesnt sound too bad for what they are. I have some nice dash speakers as well. Not going for a booming system, just wanted something and the dash speakers alone didnt cut it. I like to be able to move the speakers whereever I want on the roll bar. Infact, Ive since painted those speakers BLACK and lowered them so they are out of view. They blend really well and with them being lower it didnt effect sound that much.
