nothing going on in the shop :( so I am sitting there staring at my truck and well now I am waiting for the air compressor to catch up. Pics tonight

Oh no you dit-ent?:eek1:

I'm sorry for your pain Horton:D

the total narrowness will not be known for a little while as I am just going the back half right now not the engine cage.

I would imagine once I am done sucking the front fenders in it will give me about 3 inches or so on each side. Maybe a bit more. In the rear I should gain about 5 inches on each side

So got part of the boatside on one side done today. I want to actually make the whole floor..........well a whole floor no big holes in it or anything.

Here is the pics

First cuts actually went higher up than this but not much, sawzall with a 8" blade did most of this cut

I also used a body saw and grinder and a die grinder to get everything cut out. Heres what I ended up with everything cut out

This is pretty much where the rec. tube will reside. Where I cut it if you were going to keep the cab you could actually put the doors back on pretty easily. I am going to try to cut everything off to make the edge of the body pretty much even with the outside edge of the tube.

I am also going to trim the firewall where the tires hit better. Before I just clearanced with a large hammer and it worked alright but this time I will actually cut out the metal and redo that particular part of the firewall basically where the footwell is

This shot shows how the rear of the cab (which won't really be there much longer) will get quite a bit narrower.

Hoping to get the other side done tomorrow, finish this side and run some tubing for my seats. From some eyeballin I will be able to run two tubes in between the boatsides and mount my seats directly to them.

The chopping has just barely started. By the time I am done with it. I will have 4 seats a full cage more clearance and hopefully less weight, I kind of doubt that last one though

for some reason i thought id see ya taking 2 feet from the center of the cab :haha:

After extensively looking at a cab I have laying around, I decided against that. In addition to that my overall plans have changed somewhat. For the type of wheeling I do body is bad, unless you are a jeep on full widths you are gonna get body damage alot of it, even jeeps on full widths get body damage.

This last weekend it really annoyed me I could not follow a buddy of mine into an obstacle because I knew if I fell in where he did, it would be a very difficult recovery and would result in a broken windshield and a crushed cab. Plus all the associated mess you leave when that happens.

It just so happens we have a pile of DOM at the shop that now has nowhere to go. Well it does now. :D

There is a guy down the street from me that I met while wheeling in the dunes last time who did that. Not 2' but a good 8" right out of the center and it came out amazing. If I wasn't looking for the body line down the center of the hood I might have missed it the first time through.

got one side pretty much done, sorry for the crappy pics forgot my camera so cell phone pics it is

Floor isn't done I need to bring my bead roller to the shop but all of the braces are done I plan on cutting off the front body mount tommorow

Here is how two of the braces look coming up through the floor

This pic shows the brace that would go directly under the seat, I didn't do this intentionally but it looks like this type of boatside would clear the stock bench seat

This is by the pedal assembly haven't started on the floor cause I will probably have to get creative about it I want the rig to be comfortable so I will need a dead pedal or something to rest my foot on. The floor will match the angle of this brace

Just a couple pics of one fishplate I made to brace to the frame
The stupid Chevy frame is so full of holes its hard to miss all of them

There should have been plenty going on in the shop. Lol. I like where you are going with this. Thanks again for taking the time to work on my junk. By the way, I was hoping y'all would post up some pictures and the like on the forums. Catch ya' later Bro.

let us get something more than just cutting stuff off done Rob!:D

progress for tonight, more of the same, just on the other side, so no pics, on Monday though should be cutting off the cab and starting to bend tube.

I'm saddened, I never knew Horton before the transformation....

I'm saddened, I never knew Horton before the transformation....

I am trying to devise a way to hang skins on it for easier trails.

Don't worry Dave it will be alot nicer at BB to have buckets seats mounted to the cage, like I said I am not a very good driver:eek1::D

sounds like a blast is in store..wa ha ha

so once again cell phone pics but update pics nonetheless

Got the boatsides done so off comes the cab
