Canmore dude, one thing I've noticed after e-mailing and otherwise electronically communicating for almost 18 years is that some peoples idea of "Netiquette" isn't what others is. Frinstance, Buttman's response to me enjoying Eagle's comment could be taken as an agreeably funny observation and play on words, OR that Buttman is insulting Eagle. I personally think Eagle is an opinionated but generally great guy that I very much enjoy conversing with.
Now since I couldn't see the expression on Buttman's face nor any hand gestures or sentiment behind his comment I'm at a loss to figure out if he truly insulted Eagle (as it appears) or if perhaps he was being light hearted and doesn’t understand how to express himself electronically, which could be the problem behind some of his otherwise questionable posts.
So Buttman, I'll ask straight up: did your response to me about Eagle have a negative tone or discourteous attitude, or was it meant in a lighthearted manner? Surely if you are insulting my friend Eagle, then consider yourself dropped from any possible further communications from me. On the other hand if you simply could not express yourself in a lighthearted way, but meant to, then I would suggest reading over what you post first to see if it sounds like something that you would want expressed back to you from someone else. I.E. put the shoe on the other foot and see how it feels, before you comment. It’s just common decency in an otherwise impression-challenged electronic environment. Perhaps try some
faces or something to express your feeling on the information you are trying to convey.
There, nuff said…I'll stop before I pontificate all over myself!
