This is why IFS sucks again......10 mph, hit a small pot hole, spindle breaks at lower ball joint hole......Not another one in country so now my service truck is down for god knows how long......It blew out my one of my new front tires too......For reference the tire is not touching the ground, it just looks like it, you can move the tire around freely......

Dude if you hit hard enough to blow out the tire it wasn't just a little bump....That's not the weak spot in IFS as it is.....I have a messed up front end on my 82 after an incident like that and it has a 44 on the front...That being said I was able to drive it far enough to work on it although the front tire was squalling on the way.

Its a common problem over here, this is the 3rd or 4th truck this year on base that has done it, one of the Power Gen trucks was going about 5 mph and had it happen, It popped the tire off the bead when it kicked the tire out sideways.......same thing that happened to mine.....

Shipping to Iraq wouldnt be very cheap I'm sure.....

Very much doubt that hitting a pothole at slow speeds was the only reason it broke, but rather just the "straw that broke the camels back". Can't imagine those trucks have had an easy life (I see multiple colored body panels in the picture.......was it wrecked previously?).

Don't get me wrong, not saying IFS is that great but if you beat on anything long enough it will break from fatigue.

lets see what kind of customer service you get from obama motors.....:D:D

wow... ive never seen that happen to these trucks, my 2500hd 4x4 has been lifted for years, in january ill have it lifted for 7 years and ive replaced some of the parts(since its been pushing 37s)but nothing even close to that. ive changed wheel gearings, and one ball joint last year right around the 80,000 mile mark but then again i dont haul anythig besides dust and only highway drive it....

That sh*thole looks familiar..... Where is that? VBC? Anywho, you could get the parts shipped out there for around $13 in a flat rate box. I had plenty of crap mailed there over the years, it has never been that spendy.

And i says to myself i said "Self, that sand looks real familiar, almost like i used to sweat my ass off there"

You sucking sand in VBC or Balad?

As for the spindle. . . F**k it and get yourself a bongo truck!!!!!

:haha::D:haha: I was thinking the same thing... Sand, berms in the background, white/red tankers, and the ever present reflective belts almost sent me into flashbacks!:doah: :haha:

Never owned an ifs truck so I don't know what you mean when you say the spindle broke at the lower ball joint. Got any pics?

Are you saying the spindle itself sheared off?

umm please explain how the tire isnt touching the ground???

and I also have a hard time believing this story. It may have broke in that pot hole. But as beat up as the truck looks and seeing videos like the one below I doubt that was its ONLY problem is a small pothole at 10mph. Come on, cut us some slack, we know a small pot hole and 10mph isnt enough to break a 1 ton truck.

its touching, its just not holding any weight and dosent have any air in it, should of reworded that better, i could move the tire left to right with my hands, all of the weight is laying on the lower control and frame.....I got handed this truck in december with a fried tranny, as in it would bounce off the rev limiter before it would move, that was fixed, next was a wiring harness, nothing on the dash even works, seats are destroyed cause chevy cant build a decent seat, one of the windows dont roll down, the F250's over here stand up 10x's better than the chevrolets......If there is a small crack or a small dent in the panels they replace them, thats why it has 2 black fenders and 2 gray bedsides.....

Now this isnt a spindle for a 4x4 chevy truck BUT its the only picture I could find of a spindle, the circle shows what broke and the line is where it actually broke at......

I work at a shop on a farm, and these IFS trucks DO NOT hold up. Junk as far as I am concerned.
