Got water coming in on drivers side, its coming from under the dash. Was raining last nite so I went out and got a good look. I can see water starting around the bolts that hold the brake peddle assembly to firewall, just above and between the top of the fuse panel. Very hard to get to, but I can see its been getting water there for awhile, heavy rust on the flat brake assembly bolts.

Any idea what I should tear apart first? Im thinking pull the dash and see what I can see but Im afraid water is getting thru the cowling somewhere, so ill have to pull the cowling off, which is a PITA to do.

Any ideas?

there is seam sealer around the brace/mount plate for the booster unit at fire wall. check to see if its dryed out and needs a new batch .

might have to remove the black plastic wire channel above the booster to see down in there if your truck has it .

I did pop the hood and it was dry inside at the firewall by the booster, this is what makes me think it has something to do with the cowling.

Drain at the bottom of the cowl is plugged? Filling with water until it seeps through the parking brake thread holes?:dunno:

not there. its coming from the firewall area. I can see the brake assembly bolts (on the inside) dripping, but cant tell if its above those bolts or coming THRU those bolts.

Might be a small rot hole under the wiper linkage maybe?...at the bottom of the cowl..could be the area around the windshield gasket is rusted away or leaking too..

The seam sealer in the cowl area under the wiper linkage deteriorates and starts to rust though the firewall and into the cab. I have had this problem on a couple of different trucks that I have owned. Now it is one of the first areas i check when looking at buying an old square body.

You need to take off the wipers and cowl cover and see how bad it is. Hopefully, you can clean it up, stop the rust and put new seam sealer. I had one truck where I was able to stop it for a few years, but then it started leaking again. I have also seen them rust under the windshield gasket.
