I've fixed the broken welds on the side of the shifter, but it still feels like shifting a bowl of soup. There is a good bit of slop between the tip of the shifter and the shifter itself. Looks like the drift pin is wallowed out.

Can I drill that hole out and put a bigger pin in? Or should I look for an o-ring that fits inside, or maybe weld it solid?

IIRC if you drive that pin out, you'll find there used to be some sort of rubber-ish rings that sort of tightened that all up. Perhaps to somewhat dampen vibration?

Believe there is a writeup on "tightening" the whole thing up over on pirate by Billavista maybe? I can't recall if your particular problem was solved or not though.
