Is there anybody out there making a 52" rear leaf spring, in the 6" - 8" lift range, that has the capacity of a 3/4 ton truck spring? All of the aftermarket lift kits I have found that advertise a "K20 lift kit with 52" springs" is simply selling a 1/2 ton capacity kit. I have a 78 3/4 ton single cab and I don't like the idea of lifting it with 1/2 ton capacity rear leaf springs. I have two other backup plans, have alcan make me some 52" lift springs to my specifications, OR maybe a shackleflip with a 2" or 4" lift 56" spring. Any thoughts???

My truck has the 2200 lbs 6 leaf packs from this chart.

I'm sure you are right, but its a serious beater/daily driver. I really hate to spend that much money on custom springs for it, but it might be cheaper than getting the 56" lift springs AND the shackle flip kit.

Does anybody else here have a 52" 3/4 ton? What did you do?

mine were 225 a piece. then 50 sh. $500 total. a set of normal rear lifts should be 350-400 or more:dunno: but they wont be able to compare in ride:thumb:

mind if I ask why you don't like the 1/2 rated leafs? Do you haul a camper or travel trailer?

Well, the short answer would be to just say that I have no reason and that I know I really don't need the 3/4 ton capacity.

The long answer...I guess it's mostly a mental thing. I don't like the idea of "downgrading" when it comes to strength and capability. In my mind it would be like pulling out the 14bff and putting a 10 bolt in the back. If I was really using the truck in the rocks and wanted more flex I don't think I would have an issue with the lighter springs, but this is a truck I drive almost everyday to work (I work 5 miles from my front door). From time to time I like to load the bed down with various junk not to mention my flatbed trailer. In reality I doubt I would ever put more in it than a 1/2 ton spring could handle, not to mention the fact that it isn't safe to load down a truck with a 6" lift...but we all do it from time to time. In the interest of saving money I will probably just buy a 52" kit and be done with it, I was just hoping someone would be able to give me a better suggestion.

I have a set of 52" 4" lift springs and 2' blocks. These were custom made springs. I just took them off my 91K5. Shipping would be huge but I will sell them. I also have the front. I have pictures but I cant post them yet. If you are interested I could email them.

No thanks, I'll Pass.

Deciding 6" or 8" of lift matters plenty.

Using 52' or 56's matters some as well.

If you're planning on 6-8" of lift, what are you planning on towing/carrying?
