Since this site has been very helpful in the past and ive exhausted my search of google i'm going to look for insight here.
about a year ago i bought a 60 gallon compressor from home depot as the price/size and cfm rating looked like they were what i needed to run the sand blaster that i needed. While it kept up ok with the air i needed it ran very hot and sucked in a ton of moisture which made sand blasting near impossible. so i went out and picked up a second hand refrigerated air drier that i overhauled and moved the compressor from my garage to my basement and plumbed the system to the garage and my shop (only 10 feet of pipe on one side and 20 on the other). this drastically cut down on the amount of water coming through as before i could watch the water come out of the nozzle, but it is still getting very hot and there is still some water coming out of the tool in use.
what i am debating on doing is replacing the motor and pump for one that will put out more cfm and run cooler. However after research this sounds like it may not be the best option. but has anyone done this before here and is it worth the trouble?
i know i could buy a new compressor but that seems to be a more expensive option compared to just replacing the parts and i really dont want to buy a second compressor.
My current usage of the compressor are for impact guns, nail guns, sand blaster and sand blast cabinet, painting, sanding etc. it will likely be just me using it at any time and i only have 1 phase service. i plan on building a larger shop at my next house so i'd like to have something to fit my needs now and in the future.
