Another Allan/Dana 60 involved road trip with pics.

I think if I do any heavier towing, I'll stay with the 454 powered Crew Cab. 8 doesn't seem that much worse than 11mpg. With the things I normally tow anyways, I'd probably just wear out the 6.2 in no time.

Ideally, I wanted that '79 Chevy Crew Cab that had a Cummins swapped into it that was sold on here twice in the last couple years. But I missed out. I had a Cummins to swap into my Crew Cab, but gave up cause I don't have the time or tools for such a swap, and sold the motor.

Even better... I wish my motorhome had a Cummins and good hitch on it. Then I could go wherever, pull over and sleep wherever with the comforts of my 2nd home, and if I break down, just live there until I figure out the problem.

You know, a Cummins powered K30 crewcab with a NV4500 behind that Cummins would make a great tow rig for you...

Thats what I was aiming for... Cummins, NV4500, '81 Crew Cab. I had it all at one time, but the cost of all the parts to make everything work all together in the same vehicle (bellhousing, adapters, parts for the motor, etc...) would have been more than I probably had into the Cummins and tranny itself, so I gave up and figured I'd put the 4500 behind the 454.

If I were you, I'd get another Cummins and put that into the truck in question.
