I ordered a lower patch panel for my passenger door...Holy cow...this is what I got:

My floor pans were bent up also. One was shipped very well the other was just stuffed in a box. Both of them had sneaker prints on them.

This is unacceptable...do they have a home office in America or is it overseas?

devils advocate...

Was it in a box or just a label stuck to the panel? Could it be the shippers fault?

It was not in a box...and had black dust all over it..the distributor is the shipper...they hand delivered it...so either way HQ needs to know what's going on.

No doubt they need to know, I was worried you might get screwed if there was a 3rd party shipper (UPS, Fed Ex, etc).

That sucks it got torn up by their own folks. With as much sheetmetal as you know they ship, they should know better than to send a bare panel without packing. :doah:

I don't understand it because that's not the first...when I ordered the fender it was in a box and was perfect...the tailgates I ordered were not in boxes or were in already opened boxes...the inner fender skirts were not in boxes...they look ok although they are scratched up...
I am starting to wonder if I am getting "used" or old parts that have layed around a body shop floor...

This ^^

I worked in wholesale at a dealership for 15 yrs selling to body shops. You'd be amazed at how many reputable shops simply order everything in the area to be repaired and then send back at least half of it. Of course, by the time it gets back the boxes are gone or ruined and the parts are scratched and/or bent. The body shops story is always "that's the way we got it". :surepal:

But then, why would a reputable company try to sell this stuff to someone else as new parts?

Technically its still new and the company doesn't want to lose it's a$$ throwing stuff away.

It's the same reason stores like WalMart, etc. rewrap some CD's and DVD's when they are returned.

can't say my collision shop EVER did that... and believe me, we where the biggest purchaser of sheetmetal in the county... heck, all the dealers use to send us their collision work...

my boss use to walk around on monday and tues with about 30 g's in a wad in his pocket.. paid cash for every part that came in...

as I've said in the past, ALL sheetmetal for our rigs are the same Taiwan stampings.. whether it's Goodmark, LMC, whatever...

whatever is going on with me is caused by the distributor...for some reason they have decided to deliver rejects and returns to me...that was bodywork dust on that panel...all three tailgates came in already opened boxes with no styrofoam or anything in the box...they are delivering bad product to me...I guess I'll order from Rock auto from now on even if the shipping is insane...at least it will be new in the box and straight.

right.. I'm just disposing of the internet myth of some sheetmetal suppliers having "closer to NOS" quality than others..

a ding or scrape is not uncommon... but yeah, it sounds like your dizzy is an arse....

Truth.

Buying a repro panel for your truck doesn't mean that you're done fabricating and modifying to fit. It just means that someone else put the metal into a shape that's closer to what you'll need. Sad but true...

NOS parts cost more because they are exactly like originals... hmmm, actually they ARE originals. No guarantee that they'll fit a battered old truck perfectly either though.

Make your peace with repro parts....sometimes they save you some time, other times they are infuriating (like front cab supports for a 1st Gen) and you'd be better off building one from scratch then fckuing around with a junk stamping that is neither a "left side" version nor a "right side" version...basically it's ALWAYS wrong no matter what the application is.

The supplier for GOODMARK LMC and others you name it is APEX out of Taiwan. I have yet to find a company stamping 48 to 98 GM truck parts here in the USA.
Most of the larger companies buy by the shipping container unpackaged. I would call Goodmark they are a good company to deal with I am would bet they send you a replacement.
