i am thinking about buying another blazer i found one on cl for 800 bucks its a 84 model and its a diesel the guy said it has a new gm transmission and since the deal i found on a frame fell through and don't really have time to swap a frame on mine anyways and its just about too bent to drive i am really having 4x withdraws at this point if i get it i will use my tires and lift kit on it for now untill after college then get crazy building one

any thoughts about this i have never driven a 6.2 how is the power compared to say a stock tbi350? can i pull with it?

also what trans a tcase should it have he said the tcase jumps out of gear but i can rebuild that did any come with a 400 205 combo?

Civi diesel K5 will have a 700R-4 and NP208, M1009 got the TH400 and 208.

a 6.2 feels like a 305 IMHO. So less powerfull than a 350 but not bad.

I would say 5k is about the max you can pull and be pretty comfortable pulling, I have pulled 7500 with mine and its slow, very slow. Of course mine has 35s and stock gears ( 3.08s or 3.42s)

Mine has averaged just under 17 mpg in the last several months though

is there any way to turn up the injector pump on it real easy like you can on the old fords i would like a little more power than that i am used to 350 tbi with a cam so i don't know how i would like it i just don't wanna have to go the turbo route i need this to be as cheap as possible

You can turn up the fuel rate on these. Cobine with a 'J' code manifold and you'll pick up some noticable power. My pick-up has the fuel rate turned up, EGR is disabled. still a 'C' code manifold...but it scoots along decently. Not quite 350 territory, but no slouch either. it's about to get 3" dual exhaust which should help a little more.

Mine is turbocharged, but my 6.2L J code with the pump turned up a bit will leave a stock TBI 350 in the dust.

Gears are what makes a diesel a slug more so than the engine really--my K2500 must have 3.42 or lower gears ,because it is very sluggish on the street upon takeoff, and seems to lumber along at highway speeds...feels like a 250 six more than a V8 most of the time ..but I'm sure if I had lower gears like 4.10's or 4.56's I'd be squealing the tires a lot more often...but the diesels like to turn slower than a gas engine so to some degree the higher gearing helps keep fuel milage up there and keeps the engine in its peak torque spot...so GM usually put "highway gears" in diesel trucks for that reason..

My truck feels "slow",but if you watch the speedometer,it accelerates pretty good actually,it just sounds like the engine is laboring and the tranny shifts into a higher gear too soon compared to a gas engine....gives the illusion of low power and sounds like it has no balls, but it can also roast the tires if you power brake it at 1800 rpms!.
