Its time for college.

I'm gonna guess his major isn't gonna be English lit...but it does make me wonder what sort of entrance req's the college he is going to has. Shouldn't basic literacy be a requirement?

Having graded papers and essay tests at a State University (in CA), I can tell you it's not. Most freshmen have to take a remedial English course.
that is sad...it seems that the public school system has reduced it's standards over the past twenty years...kids are graduating high school with maybe a junior high education.

ya it's sad that parents can't sit down with their kids anymore and help them with schoolwork or get them tutoring if needed.![]()
yes, that is true too, and that is bad for the kids that aren't passing because of that reason...
but if kids are passing the curriculum with no problem whatsoever and they have to take remedial courses their first year of college, what does that say?

I don't know how some parents can be like that. I sit down every night with my daughter to do homework. She does the work, but I'm right there at the table to answer any questions, and to check over the work when she's done.ya it's sad that parents can't sit down with their kids anymore and help them with schoolwork or get them tutoring if needed.![]()
