ANOTHER Diesel Swap Question

I looked through the 1st 8 pages and didn't see what I was looking for. I need to replace the 305 motor in my k5 and I was thinking about a diesel. I am pretty sure that someone has asked this and was hoping that someone could send me in the right direction. If not any help would be greatly appriciated. This would be my 1st diesel, bad idea right off the bat? Is doing a gas to diesel swap bad for a diesel newbie? What all would it take to do this swap (gas tank, brakes, etc.) if I understand there is no vacum on a diesel so the brakes work differently, correct? Same with the gas tank, will diesel go through the gas tank/lines or will everything have to be swapped? Thanks guys!!!!
