Correct me if is am wrong but all of the 2wd suspension pieces on the 73-87 are just rivited on. Unlike the 88-98 trucks where the upper spring bucket is actually built into the frame.
 
Actually, all the 73-87 2WD trucks i've seen the whole front crossmember (with all suspension) BOLTS in.
