i have a simple question and i want a simple answer lol.
i have 37" tires, stock 350 with straight pipe exhaust and i will be buying a new computer chip for it this summer. I have a 14 bolt rear axle i will be installing this summer and am going to beef up the front 10 bolt. i have the th400r. which is a good gear for city driving and mud running. i will not exceed 60mph on any highway in that thing so my top speed is 60mph. thanks Chevys kick ass:bow: by the way

Edit. Sorry Just noticed the question after the th400r. Like others I'd say 4.56's

I love my 4:56's. I run 35 BFG Muds. I can still run 75 on the highway if I want. Don't waste your money on the chip. All I got out of my chip was a cool new box...... It does delay shifts a bit.... If you're running bigger tires with higher gears it might do you some good.
 
TH400R? Do you mean 700R4? If you have overdrive go 4:88's in the axles with the 37's. If you don't have OD and have a 400 tranny; 3 speed; i'd probably say 4:56's. Anyone else?

I run 4.56s on mine with 36" IROKs and it works out fine. Carbureted still, but an impressive 9mpg. I have trouble keeping my speed down. With an OD I'd probably recommend more like 5.13.:D
 
yes i do have the overdrive transmission. and i will only be going about 55-60 max speed because it gets kinda scary at those speeds sittin up that high. i was thinking 4.88 or 5.13 i want it to feel pretty quick around town. and do they make those gears for 10bolt and 14 bolts?

It's just that the OD trans usu. starts as 3.73 and 31s, and the trans doesn't want to stay in OD on anything but totally flat ground unless you go real deep. I already did this math for my buddies 87 Sub and it looked like 5.13s were optimum.:dunno:
 
a guy down the street from me is selling 14 bolt axle and 10 bolt front with 4:10 gears 4 16.5" wheels and 36" tires for 600 bucks. so ima go ahead adn buy those. Do you think i could get them for 450 or 500? and its full floater rear end and 4;10 gears
