I've got a 1984 GMC shortbox with a 350 and 700r. I just installed a 4 inch lift and I'm running 35's on the stock 10bolts with 2.73's :eek1:. This truck will mainly be used on the highway and I'd like to run around 75 and 80mph. I've done quite a bit of searching on this forum and I've pretty much decided to go with 4.56's but I just wanted to make sure that you guys agreed. Remember, mostly highway driving will be done. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If you like how the truck runs on the highway with the 2.73's and transmission in D (not in overdrive) then it will be pretty close to having 4.56's and running overdrive on the highway....it will be a little lower, about equivalent to 3.20 vs. 2.73 but that's fairly close.

I love the rpm range of 35's and 4.56 in mine , very livable , and OD is useable again in town ( like the owners manual of the truck says to leave it in :wink1: ) :thumb:
