So I picked up a couple military 36's on H1's to use as spares for the front of my K30 dually. I really have no interest in cutting down the inserts. Will it hurt anything running down the highway at 70 mph with them in there? Can I still balance them with bb's or should I just leave them out?

It won't hurt anything running on tires that are aired up.

I'm sure you can balance with BBs I don't see why not

I bet BB's will sound crazy banging around on the inserts. LOL

Fwiw, they're not hard to cut down. I used a sawzall with a wood blade, it took about an 1-1.5 hrs to cut and grind finish 5 inserts.

Lol, yeah I figured bb's would sound funny. I just didn't know if they would get hung up on the insert's ribbing and cause more of a tire shake.

I'd leave them out. If your not airing down, you won't be needing the beadlock function of the insert. Why keep all the extra mass and make it harder on the brakes.:dunno:

They may never even get driven on. My current front tires (9.00x16) are dry rotted pretty good and one loses air now. I'll be working in Virginia over the winter and the tire shop I use there can get the same tires I have now. The truck will be sitting in the barn over the winter, likely never getting used. I'm just going to put these 36's on in case the wife needs to use the truck for some reason. If one happens to lose it's air, she can still drive the truck out of the barn and over to the air compressor, without the beads popping off.
