Ok, I promise I have read at least 8 hours of posts on Headers. I cant find a good answer. I had rusty leaker headers and decided to buy the Headman Elites...bc of the 14 gauge and 3/8 flange. The guy at Headman told me which to order...they dont fit. Hit the shackle bolt and empty out right in front of the crossmember.

I have a 72 Jimmy 4x4, 4 speed, about 4 inches of lift and ac.

Im fine with Shorties if need be, but I dont want cheap ones. I also dont want to have to dent brand new headers. Im willing to spend the money if they will fit right the first time....

Any body had luck with a set up like mine?

I really need some direction. Thanks

Doug Thorley headers are good but definately not cheap. They collector position has a bit to be desired but other than that they are an excellent header.

I agree, I had them on an 84 k5. THEY ARE GREAT.

I need to find somone who has a similar blazer or jimmy and has found the straight forward bolt headers for my application.

Thanks

Greg72 ran the Thorleys on his 72 blazer with no problems. His is a BBC though so maybe they fit differently than a SBC.

Great, thanks! I will pm him. I dont know....I wonder if they would work?

Thanks Scott, I appreciate your help. Those do look like they would be perfect. Anyone on here have these......?

Ive had 2 sets of thorleys, 1 when I had my 350, and the ones on my 496. Fit great, no problems getting to the plugs, dropped right in. Nowhere close to the shackles on my 87 (yeh I know it aint the 72 style). 2 things I dont like about em tho. On the big block ones, the passenger collector kinda points at the frame rail, just a slight bend so its no big deal.

The other thing is, the nickel chrome coating that comes on them (unless you pay for the ceramic coating which I did on my bbc's) is crap. I mean it looks really good, but the first glob of mud that hits them instantly burns on solid and never comes off making them look pretty crappy. The ceramic coating on my bbc's is a little better the clods of mud come off but it kinda stained mine to where the coating has a brown tint. If I was doing it again I would get the cheapest coating and set them to airborne or jethot and get them coated there.

Thats my .02 as far as coatings go, unless your going fancy with stainless, get painted steel and send em to jethot.. or better yet, just check jethots listing (pretty extensive) and buy direct if ceramic is the way your going...

all the header "brand" coatings I see generally fail pretty quickly to some extent...
