Another jeep xj steering shaft thread.

So yesterday went to the local pick a part and got an intermediate steering shaft from what I thought was the correct year xj turns out it wasn't but I learned even if it the older xj model with the small column head you can heat the rag joint set up and use it with the xj and it works perfectly only thing I had to do was trim the nipple down on the steering box side. Just an FYI for those doing the mod to their square bodys

I used one from an early 2000's Express van. I have also used the XJ ones. Worth the effort, helps the steering feel a bunch.

This is the route I went. The XJ shaft I got wasn't the right one, and it's nice having the confidence of using a new part.
