Decided to carve up the rear of my 78 K5...before another tree does anyway. Its just some shadetree trial & error body chop. Dovetailed and bobbed the rear. Got it chopped and almost where I want it trimmed down to before welding. 12" was bob'ed from the rear and the sides cut to meet the cage. Going to tube under the floor panel and add some plate tabs for the side sheet metal to the vertical cage tube. Still have some fine tuning to trim up, but the majority is cut.

Bat Winged!

Sawzall can be addictive.
I got plans to tube the rear gate and add tail lights buggy style. Lots to come...cut the fenders, tube, skin, lights, ...oh and a fuel cell. But, I'm so broke right now my bologna don't have a first name !

I am honored Sawzall master...I recognize the K5 in your avatar pic from somewhere....? Was it in the Petersons 4x4 "Monsters of Moab"?

Here are some of the nose before I done the rear chop....I'll post some side shots when I get the front back together. The fronts apart and awaiting tube to tie in the the rad support thru the fire wall into the cage.

I REALLY like the grill :pimp:

I didn't measure. But, the front is cut down the outside of the radiator support. I'll have to measure the tail light sections that I cut off to get the numbers.
I was gonna be conservative and leave the headlight mounts, but then just cut it deep. Its a 78 either I can destroy it or the rust can :)

The grill is from an older Jimmy, cut down and epoxy'd.

No worries I was thinking about leaving mine a little wider but it looks good how you did it. You got me thinking now, hell my headlights suck anyway...
