There seems to be a lot more negative than positive stuff regarding these axles here on CK5. One of the mags Peterson's I think did a really good write up on these maybe two years back. They had a pretty good opinion of them.
I think the major draw back for anything short of a trailored rock rig is the gearing. Maybe if you gear a tranny to match?
I've always been interested in the rigs themselves and the axles of course.
