this is gonna be a when ever i have time project.
just picked up a 89 blazer off a buddy of mine.
it has 4" lift springs, 1974 3/4 ton axles. he just redid the bearings brakes and new drums in it. 5.7 tbi motor, gm rebuilt tranny with 1500 miles on it. 16.5 american racing wheels on 35" bfg tires.
also picked up another 89 fullsize silverado blazer with a bad tranny and 80,000 on the motor. new aftermarket slider windows for the hard top, light bar, and 1500.00 worth of patch panels.

im gonna do a body swap and get it running first. then ill worry about do patch work. these blazers are known for the floor to rot away. the patch panels i got from him. is the whole floor for the truck.
i suck at body work when it comes to filler work. so this truck is gonna be a daily driver mudder. i want it to look good, but not to crazy with it. its not gonna be a show truck. as long as the body is solid and dont rattle. i dont care.
im gonna have tailgate, doors and fenders. which will be down the road.

heres the only pics i have now on it

belive it or not. all the body mount bolts came out with out a problem. the last 2 by the gate are rotted away.
so far i picked up a used tailgate that is alot better than mine. brand new black carpet, rough country rear shocks brand new. used light grey cloth seats for the front and rear. dash padand a push bar.

just picked up a chain fall so i hope to aim for tomorrow to swap the body over.

the body in the pictures.i used a chain fall. i hooked it in the back where the rear seat clips into. then for the front i hooked it with a nut and bolt with a chain where the seat belt are on the floor.

i realized that body was to far gone. so i picked up another k5 hat had a better body.
on that body i ran the same in the rear, bu for the front. i ran a strap around the roof from one door to the other. and than again used the chain fall

i did the same with a donor body i picked up for 200 bucks but we built a wooden platform to get it off a trailer. found that the previous owner dented the cab by picking it up the same way around the roof, and there was a little more rust than I liked, so I've decided not to use it for the restoration. You didn't get any damage? those points you lifted from were strong enough?

no damge from what i see on the points i picked it up from.

ok, good to know i'll definitely do that when i'm ready to start my resto. yea who knows what the PO's did to dent the cab the way they did. oh well i'll use that one for my mudder. thanks for the info and good luck with your rig, looks like its coming along nicely

glad to help/ i have to post up a few newer pics. i slapped the fender on just so i could drive it. the new body needs a rocker small section of the floor, cheater quaters on the driver side and a small spot above the rear wheel.
