Another manual glow plug conversion

This has been covered many times but here is mine.
Parts used:
1986 F150 4x4 5.8 starter solenoid. Autozone $28
Ulincos U22a1W 22mm momentary switch, black with white led ring. Amazon $10.55.
Ulincos 22mm Pigtail C22A4B (2 pack) Amazon $6.48
14ga wire black and red
Heat shrink
Butane soldering iron.
Solder
14ga ring and male connector.
I wired the switch so that the LED ring comes on with the ignition, if it bothers me driving at night I'll wire it up so that the light only comes on when I push the button. The switch is rated for 5A so I might need to put a relay with it but I'll check the amp draw at work this week.

Wire a 12v+ to the normally open wires of the push button, the other side of the NO pole goes to the S terminal on the relay. The 12v+ and glow plug rings go to the solenoid and you are done. The automatic relay is nicer but its also $140.

So you eliminated the gp card entirely.

On mine, I kept the glow plug system intact and just wired a momentary switch from the blue wire on the gp relay through the switch to ground.

All the GP card does is provide ground to the gp solenoid.
So grounding the solenoid activates the glow plugs.
In effect over riding the gp card.

I wanted to just add an override to the factory controller but it was dying on me so for now I'm all manual. The inverter is a Samlex SAM-1000-12 modified sine wave 1000w. I put it in after seeing PMA4x4's I believe. It is mounted under the 2015 Dodge center console I put in and works great, I don't use it much but it always works!
