Well for those of you who read my battery post, it must have had a weak charge. Because I charged it, then I put it in the k5 again, and it fired up. Althought it took a while to start it worked.

here is the new problem,,,
I went to shift the transfer case into a different gear and it won't move. Also instead of following the 2hi 4hi N 4lo, it is in either 2hi or 4hi when i drive it, but the indicater thingy says its in N,so I am wondering If I have something other than a np208 in there?
What would cause the transfer case not to shift at all... I had it running, in park. And it doesn't make any grinding noises, it just WONT move. Anyone know?

Thanks

maybe look at ur shifter linkage and make sure it is all connected and all looks correct and if it ok then try adjusting it.

so are you saying that it wont move now matter where the tcase lever is at? kinda confusing there.

crawl under it and look at the tcase. if its a fixed yoke (there bolts holding the ujoint in the yoke) its either a 205 or 203. if it is a slip yoke (ujoint has no bolts and has a long thing its slides into) then is probably a 208. you can tell the difference betweenthe 203 and 205 is between the 2 big covers on the back the 205 has a small cover w/ 3 bolts and the 203 has nothing.

it could be the linkage is binding, have you ever moved the lever before?

I don't know how to not make it confusing, but when I shift the Jimmy, it moves easily, then when I try to shift the k5 (the one that wont move) it doesn't even move. Probably not the best thing, but I hit it with my palm of my hand a bit to see if it was just stuck, but it still didn't move.
I have never touched the transfercase until today.
Tomorrow I will check to see if it's slip or fixed yoke to verify what t-case it is. I was almost positive it was a 208 though /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif
