So if I just wanna rattle can the Blazer, knowing that OD or flat black will always be available for touch ups, how much prep work do I really need to do? Just a wipe down with some acetone? Or more?

Get some fine grip sand paper, sand untill the shine is gone. Wipe it down with acitone, and maybe then a tack cloth. Just got done doing my front clip.
