another trans question

well, i have found a 700r4 in a junkyard. but its from a gas engine. now i know that these trannys have a different tourque converter and governor but i have heard that it is not too hard to swap these and i have a few places that i can get them. but, the guy at the junkyard claims that the bell housing is different and wont bolt up... does this make sense?

As far as I know those are the only diffrence between gas and diesel is tourque converter and governor. Just put 700 in my truck that was from a diesel and had those parts from a gas 700. But it bolted right up to 350.

The 6.2/6.5 series GM diesels use the same Chevrolet bolt pattern as the gas engines. I am running a "diesel" 700R4 behing a gas engine in my c10 right now.
