How much does the size of the wire matter? I'm getting ready to attempt welding up my gears in my 14blt and I have two rolls of .030 wire laying around. I have heard that around .035 is best for something like this. Its a big 220 welder (not sure of the exact size belongs to a buddy) and it is running shielding gas. Will this be good enough? I would prefere to not have to go by more wire and another tip if I can help it, but i want it done right. Thanks!

.035 would be better but it still should be fine.

x2, i would prefer to use .035 but with a good mig .030 should do it fine. i used .030 to weld up the rear (ford 8.8) in a friends low buck drag car using a 115v 130 amp mig and it out lasted the car (which ran high 10's on spray w/ slicks)

i used my hobart mig with 030 wire on everything, welded up my 12 bolt rearend two years ago, aint broke yet, running 37''swampers
