Sent my zip locker in under warranty... the bolts had came out on their own. It was repaired and they added the anti turn washers over the bolt heads. Two came off before install so i checked them all down but two came off again during install. Not feeling secure in running with these on. There must be a better method

It's weird they don't have a groove in them for an e-clip. Otherwise it looks basically like the Stage 8 system:

You could cut a groove and get e-clips. If it's all assembled on a bench a tack weld might also work, like from the tab to the round part of the bolt head.

Their recommended process is to just stake them to the head?

They came assembled already. They were pressed on (two fell off on the bench, another loose) so i proceeded to stake them on thinking it would hold but another two fell off again during installation. I like the clip idea posted above.....

Any other options? They are awful small to tack weld ...

Clean very well with brake cleaner then apply a small blob of silicone over bolt head. Once dry it'll hold the tabs on.

Don't trust silicone to hold up inside a differential. I have no idea why they don't just use loctite, it came assembled already from randy's ring and pinion under warranty cause the bolts came out on their own and destroyed the inside of my differential.

Finally said f**k it and tack welded them on

What did randys have to say about the washers falling off? I am sure they could destroy another differential. This seems like a BS bandaid for warranty work. If that is what you get from them I think I will use someone else.

Sent them an email along with the same pics i posted here and havent gotten a response yet but it sometimes takes a day or two. I will say that their customer service so far has been phenomenal!! I have no complaints at all. Not very impressed with this band aid though. Guess i have mixed feelings about the whole thing. They did warranty my zip locker after four years though....

Good to hear that customer service has been good for you. Those washers falling off before even getting installed is unacceptable. That's a fix that is only causing more problems.

I wouldn't like something that has the potential to fall off in my gear boxes. Welded should do the trick. I would have pulled them off, removed bolts, lock tight and re-torqued.

File a small groove in the carrier where the tabs make contact. Then back off the bolts that little smidge so the tabs go into the grooves. In theory, the tabs can't slide off the head of the bolt if they are stuck in a groove.

But welding should suffice as well.

That's a design they need to incorporate in the manufacturing.

Red locktite should stop that from Happening. It’s what’s recommended on. Ring gear bolts. Should be the same in the locker.

Does anyone else run yukons zip locker ? Just curious if this was a freak incident or if it is an issue related to design and such.....

the more important point here is a bad design and they know it and still no solid fix for it and they still charge us full price .

also after the guts grind them self apart inside who can say it was there bad design / bad ring/pinion / bad bearing . . . so who will prob not cover a warranty claim and if they do your still out a lot .

i dont know if i would have tach welded them . they may void future warranty claims . i also would have red lock them or even safety wired .

seeing this thread reminds me of my dana 60 front that has a brand new arb in it with the same crappy washers . maybe i should leave my self a note to fix this before i run the truck for the first time.
