Any body likes fiberglass fenders

Awesome way to get some tire clearance up front.

The picture is kind of deceiving, making you think you gain more clearance at the top than you really do. Look at the bottom lip of the fender and the bodyline - they are a couple of inches too high since the old fender is still there. Still, it's the front and back of the wheel opening that count.

Nice. Looks like a great way to reduce weight and gain clearance as well.

You know what I would really like, is some replacement fenders that are identical to stock in either metal or fiberglass that just have a bigger opening. I don't care for the flared out look, I just want more space for my tires. Something that retains the stock look while giving a bit more room.

I have thought the same thing many times. It just has to come with a new inner fender, as well.

The hard part is the back. Maybe they could offer formed wheel openings, where you cut out the old and weld the bigger one in. Most guys here would still choose the sawzall look, but I'm sure there are some who go for the finished appearance.

I guess that would depend on how much more of an opening the fender had. I think you could make one that would keep the inner fender but you would only gain about an inch more on the front and top and then follow the angle of the rear and gain about two inches in the back. However, ideally a new inner fender would be a better combo.

Check out Mountainexplorers balck step side , some one went through and opened up the fenders just like you described and I think they still use the inner fender
