Just wondering. I started bowhunting in 98 and had to teach myself everthing I know.

I shoot a Hoyt Xtec set at 79# with 29" Axis arrows, and 100 gr nitron broadheads.

My backup is a High Country set at 70# with 29" Super Slam xx78 arrows and 100gr thunderheads.

I also started shoothing this year a Fred Bear 60" 55# recurve. I'm just getting going but I am making quick progress. From 12 to 15 yds I've already got my grouping down to about the size of a soccer ball. This is just with 2 weeks of shooting.

So any other bowhunters here? What is in your arsenal?

Last year I started bowhunting, Hoyt Dynatec at 60#, can't remember then length/weight of my arrows, 100 gr muzzy broadheads. I get close to 300 fps IIRC.

Got a good deal on that bow, too. All I had to do was give up one of my 350's and a few hours of my time :D

Does sound like a sweet deal. How are you liking it? Any success so far or do you just target shoot with it?

Either way, bowhunting rocks!:saweet:

I drew on a decent sized doe last season. I didn't feel comfortable with the shot; it was about 35 yards. I can hit a dinner plate at 25 yards, and I didn't feel that was good enough to warrant a 35 yard shot.

I definitely love the cams on it though, once drawn, I can hold for a decent length of time.

What kind of let off do you shoot? When I bought mine I had it special ordered. It was suppose to come with a 65%. When it came in and I jerked it back, the wall felt sloppy. I put it on the scale it realized it was an 85%. I was PISSED. The dealer pulled a new set of 65% let off cams, told me I would never be able to shoot an 80# consitantly at 65%, and then laughed at me.

By the time I had it tweaked out I gained 18fps more with the let off difference, and another 10 or so going from a 29" draw to a 31" draw. I now sling a 485 grain arrow at around 290 fps. The dealer stopped his laughing when he figured out I was shooting almost 90 ft lbs of kinetic energy at close to 300 fps. I just wanted to say "Who's laughing now!"

I can shoot it for hours.

PSE Game Sport with fast flight system.Usually set at 75 lbs. Shoot XX75s 2317 arrows with 125 gr Muzzy brodheads.
Browning Xcelerator. My first bow. It is wood limbed compound. I shoot it with no sights and fingers in competition.
Longest kill shot I have made was 50 yards on a 3 point(western count) mule deer. I am comfortable shooting out to 70 yards(my bottom pin) with no wind. I mostly hunt Deer with a rifle but every 3 or 4 years I put in for a bow tag. its a lot of fun even if you dont stick one.
I put in for bow antelope this year but did not draw. Hopefully next year. I have never killed an antelope with a bow. Hard to get close to them but not impossible:D

50 yds... very impressive. I have pins out to 60 but the woods I hunt for whitetail I can't see more than about 30 before it is to thick to shoot. A couple of years ago I would have been comfortable shooting out to 60 but now it is about 40. I dropped back to 60 and 65 last week and kept it within the size of a soccer ball or so.

The longest kill shot for me so far is 12 yds. I had 2 at that distance, and another at about 7 yds. THe 7 yd'r came in and was rubbing his side on my tree I was in when I started to pull. He took one lunge and turned broadside when I nailed him. It was my first kill.:D

Here is what i have.

06' Bowtech Tribute
RipCord Rest
Flash Point Micro 5 pin
S-Coil Stabilizer
27.5 / 60# (for now)
CT Whitetail DZ arrows

Longest shot with this bow was 70 yards :eek1:

Closest was 10 yards :D Scent blocker works real good.
