Can anybody give me a ball park range of what my truck is pushing out?
86 K-5 with Jasper 350, edelbrock TES headers, catback with 40 series, K&N air filter, :D with stock manifold and CCC carb.:(

Soon to put on edelbrock performer intake and carb built by Recarbco:laugh:

Any takers or know how I can find out w/out a dyno(whether spend the money on parts) :thumb: :woot:

:usaflag: :k5:

Statistical Probablility

I had a great algebra teacher in High School (retired military)who said that you could could get an accurate range to an artillery target by having a bunch of guys guess the distance, then averaging them all together. The more guesses, the more accurate your range would be. I guess it's just a spin on some standard deviation formula. So, I don't know a whole lot about horsepower, but I'll guess about 289hp. If you get enough people with a little bit of knowledge to guess, you should be able to get a pretty good idea without having to pay for the dyno. Then you can use the money you saved to buy us all a beer for helping you.:deal:

If you can tell me what heads, compression, and cam it has, I can run it through Dyno2000 and get the general ballpark.

Otherwise I'm saying about 280-290

im with badmix, low 200s. Jasper doesnt built a performance engine, and you havent done anything to yours to make any more power.

with the CCC system......low 200's, definitely... I believe in stock form, they were rated at 160HP in 1986.

225... tops....

But without knowing heads, compression and cam, it's just a stab in the dark...

Hmmmm....

I think its got about 8.75:1 compression ratio. I know it is .20 over than a stock motor and its the same motor as the 87-95 trucks.

Heads maybe a 76cc but not positive and the cam should be close to a stock one:doah:

Not to sure about all that but.... its just guesses anyways:D

200 That Sucks

Why did these motors make so little horses when like in the 70's they made like 300?:dunno:

I want mine to push out at least 300HP:D and still keep it legal:ears:

I wish, my 1974 with a sbc 350 at 8.5:1 compression says 165 horse according to the owners manual for that year truck.

hmmmm....

Maybe that was the 1st gens then:rolleyes:

But I know that chevelles and camaros etc etc etc were pushing out way more than that:mad:

That is why right there... They aint trucks. All of the high horsepower motors came in the muscle cars not the trucks. Also my 87 is listed as 210 HP and 300 TQ at the flywheel from the plant. My guess would be 200-240 for your motor.

What about the trucks??

They need horses too:mad:

My guess , on a chassis dyno , you'd have less than 200 at the rear wheels . Just a hunch , and I put 10 bucks on it :thumb:
