So i want to swap my rear springs onto the front of my truck using the b52s, i know stock springs yeild about 4 inches of lift? as my truck sits now i have 6 inch front leafs with 6 inch shackles and i made hangers out of 4 inch box tubing that are mounted were the b52 mounts, so my question would be if i ditch the box mounts, put in b52s and stock rear springs and keep my 6 inch shackles where would i sit as far as height? I want to have the same amount of lift, what would be the best way to do it? Any help would be amazing!

Using the B52 hangers and stock springs you'll end up with ~4" of lift. For 6" you're going to need either 2" lift 52" springs or your stock springs + EZ Inch + longer shackle (ie; 7.25"). Beware, I tried the 7.25 shackles on a B52 swap and my caster was all out of wack. I just swapped back to a 6" shackle. Maybe you could put an add-a-leaf in the stock 52's and get close, I don't know if anyone has done that.

ya. thats what i thought. My total lift right now is like 10 or 11 but from what i understand you can mount the b52 in 8 diffrent locations? so maybe i could drop the b52s down? Ill take pics of what i got now and upload them.

The 8 locations for the b52's are 4 spring eye mount holes and 2 sets of mounting holes to adjust the bracket itself back and forth 1". All of the built in adjustment is horizontal for axle location, no vertical lift.

This is what i got right now.

that looks janky as hell.

get the b52's on there and either run 2 inch lift 52's or a zero rate.

Dropped leaf spring mounts are never a good idea, and never look good.

6in and 39's isnt too much trimming

i knew some one was gonna say that looks redneck as hell haha, i have ran it like that for years and its welded like a mofo to the frame with a crossmember in the middle. i have even had it airbourne a few times with no problems, as for 6 inches of lift i want to stay the same height i like the stance of my truck as it is.

Its a general rule that the 52s give about 4" but I have seen 5" or so using all the leaves. It doesn't seem to hurt flex that much either. Kind of depends on the overall condition of the leaf pack. If you overflex the leaves you will end up with only about 2" of lift (that would be me right now).

I say use stock springs a zero rate and see now it turns out. Of course I do like a bit of a nose down stance on a truck too. so a true 6" lift in back and basically 5" (52s and a zero rate) would look fully awesome to my eye. I strive for about an inch difference between front and rear to get the look I like.

The only truck we kept really close track of when we swapped 52s in (not using the B-52s) we ended up right at 5" but we used a couple of extra leafs in the pack to make it last longer. In addition the pack looked brand new. Our shackles measured 6.5" According to our frame measurements we were exactly 5"

Me too

The problem is that with all the removing/adding leaves you usually end up with a spring pack that might ride/flex ok but won't last long (or vice versa). There is WAY more to leaf spring design than just 4 leaf vs. 6 leaf etc.

I put 52's in the front of mine for more flex and I got it. I also got plenty of axle wrap, and I kill springs. I think I'm on my third set in a couple years. Plus I have to baby it when it's flexed out to keep from folding the main leaf in half.

I'm done with that, time for links.

If I was to stay with leaves, a well designed spring pack would make all the difference. Having driven and been a passenger in rigs with really good flexy leaf springs, I wouldn't mess with 52's again. They are a great budget option but require all the steering mods anyway and have lots of compromises (ask the front of my springs, and that's with 42's :eek1: ), I think I would go links or good leaves.
