Hey guys,
I have decided to save for a bit to buy the mickeys that I want. I will be dumping the "donks" soon and will be reusing some old 15s that I have and want to pretty them up a bit by painting them black. They are not rusty, but already have a messed up black paint job on them. I would like to remove the black paint, prep them and apply a new flat black paint job to them.

My initial thoughts were that I would use a chemical to strip the paint, then hand sand them. After that apply a primer then paint. Am I missing anything?

Any recommended paints or procedures that you can throw my way?

Thanks again,
Cam

You can get abrasive discs for an angle grinder that do pretty good at removing paint. (another use for the angle grinder!) Chemicals work ok, but I hate scraping goopy paint like that off, plus it burns your skin.

A sandblasting shop would be able to do a nice job too, but probably $20-30 per wheel.

once theyre stripped, self etching primer works wonders
