Looks like someone glued velcro strips onto it at some point. I tried brake clean and wd40 and they didnt work.

Brake Cleaner? Are you trying to wreck the dash?

If it's standard tape or sticker adhesive, the proper tool is Goo Gone, Goof Off, Sticker Shock or similar. If it's an expoxy of some kind, I have no idea other than to carefully pry it off?

I tested it on my bad dash first. Its like super glue. How it becomes plasticy and brittle when it dries, but sticks like a mofo! I'll pick up some of the goof off stuff and see how that does.

goof off is basically expensive kerosene... if lacquer thinner doesn't cut it, nothing will...

Huh. I use some stuff, Goo-B-Gone, I think, sorta orange-y and citrusy, works real well for things like this. It feels to me more like an alcohol when I rub it between my fingers, than it would a petrochemical like gas or kerosene.

That said I've never read the MSDS for it :haha: so if you say it's kerosene-ish I'll bow to your superior experience.

As a side note apparently in CA, anyway, you can't actually get paint thinners any more. Fricken environazis.

We had some 3m professional general adhesive remover at my old job that would take off just about everything. It can be kind of hard to find though.

LOL, we can still get acetone at Home Depot or other home stores. Gallons are like $7.99.

Gallon of acetone here is 16 bucks!..a QUART moght cost 8 bucks, not a gallon!..cheaper way to get some is to buy fingernail polish remover from the dollar store,or swipe some of your wife or GF's stash...:D...if you mix that with ATF you get one of the best penetrating oils you can get,and its cheaper than any spray stuff ..

Yessir acetone and ATF works good but I still like my cans of Kroil. That stuff is magic.

Believe it or not I use fingernail polish remover, works like a charm everytime.

Yea, for real?

nah, I was goofing.. :haha:

my dad was an engineer for 3M so I used to get all the latest and greatest 3M products before the masses ever saw em.. I was using those as a teen in the early 80's... than heavily in the body shops a few yr's later..

funny thing is I use em ton's in the marine biz in recent yrs removing vinyl boat names and boot stripes now that hand-painted names have gone away.. stripped a 4" wide boot stripe off a 45' er the other day as a matter of fact..

I have used fingernail polish remover as well. I used it to take the side molding glue off my buddy's moms car when I replaced the fender for her. Works real good and didn't hurt the paint at all. Goo gone works decent too. That took the crap off the window after I removed tint on my new blazer. Harder chunks like yours you may have to attempt to gently grind it first with something. Looks kind of like epoxy. Good luck.

have you tried olive oil or peanut oil....it would be the least caustic way to go and works for a lot stuff like that...may have to let it soak
