I been thinking about regrooving my swampers again, this time going deeper and cutting out the wear bars, i figure the tire will still be thick enough cuz there are spots on the tire that are deeper then the wear bars already, Does anyone see any ill effects to doing this?

My 39.5's are grooved like that (which was why I got em for nothing.../forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif) and I recently did that to my old 36" TSL's.

The ill effects of it is if you get pulled over, you can get a ticket for not having enough tread on your tires. Most states require you to have a minimum of 3/32 of tread. Anything less, and it is dangerous to drive in the rain. For a trail rig its just fine though.

well its about 25% street 75% trail, cops havent ticketed me for not having mudflaps (they gave me 3 warnings) so i dont think they will say anything about the tread on my tires. Are the cops the only ill effect? no safety issues?

No safty isues...just legal. In CA it is illegal to grove your tires.

In Kali it's legal if the tire is marked from the factory regrovable.
