 Ive dealt with two different Snap On guys in the last couple of years. My problem is they are unreliable, and they dont seem to be interested in selling tools. Are there any Snap On dealers on CK5? I know they can take orders over the phone and have the stuff mailed to my adress, so location should not be a problem. I dont want to buy from the Snap On website because everything is list price.

actualy if you get busted selling out of your terf you can get in big trouble.

i know sleddog is matco . and i cant recall the name of the snap-on dealer here. sure he will chime in tho.

In an effort to find someone else, my buddy called snap on directly because he was tired of these same two guys.

They kinda told him something like that - you have to deal with people in your area.

I dont see what the trouble is. Besides like i said, these guys dont seem interested in doing business, I cant imagine them getting upset for being bypassed.

I guess I'll contact snap on myself and see what they say.

that sucks. that wouldnt make sense to be a saleman and not be interested in business. everytime i go to my snap on guy to pay for my box hes always got me on the brink of buying something new lol, and i always tell him, "your good, i almost did it". next time i talk to him ill ask him what he thinks bout shipping stuff. hes got a jeep on 35's he just finished and ive got the task to take him out and show him where we go as hes not from around here.

Not sure what's going on with snap on but their all around service sucks. 10 or 15 years ago they were the best.

I bought a box from one guy, he doesnt even want to come around and get paid. He calls me up and asks if I can pay him over the phone with a bank card!

I know some older mechanics that say the snap on guys avoid them because they already have all the tools they need, and they only need broken items replaced.

Snappy is usually pretty reliable around Joysey from what I've seen... my guys have always been pretty consistent, show up every week... My Mac guy was awesome...

kind of a new thing for me at my new job, we have no tool truck guys at this time... kinda like it cuz I don't get tempted.. but I'm sure i'll miss that service at some point... maybe at some point i'll call the guy for that area, and start having him come in...

we had a snappy member here awhile back, forget his name, think he was out of Florida, but he hasn't been on in a LONG time...

Want Snappy, Mac, etc at good prices? shop Eghey....

My Snap-on guy is awesome. Except he takes too much of my money every week.:o

I have bought stuff from Snap-on online and it was cheaper than the local Snap-on guy. Most of the stuff online though is the same price as buying it off the truck, only difference is you pay shipping when buying it online.

Snap-On guy here is Confedneck79K30 though doesn't look like he has been on since February.

I am a Matco distributor, though I am not around here much anymore. My current project is a 1947 Studebaker Sedan, so not a lot of K5 info I need.

My Snap on guy is excellent. Dug me up an old Mac side box for 150 the other week!

He does drawings every once in awhile every 50 you buy gets you in once for the prize. I won a video pocket camera last week actually!

That blows, we have heard a lot of rumors about distributors having a hard time on that side of the fence. Between tool hold and changing requirements with their franchises. Just rumors though.

Snappy is doing something, no clue from me. I do know that they have put a couple of guys into routes here under a program (not sure if the idea is new) that has them as a snap-on employee for 6 months and then turns them into dealers after that.

Yea that is some program they offer. It is more of a Lease to Buy idea as I understood it. At least that's what it was when I was starting with Matco. I never looked too much into Snappy, I knew I wanted to be Matco from day one.

Last year at Christmas time I won a 42" (I think) flat screen TV from my Snap On guy.

I dont think I'll ever buy snapon. I've heard horror stories in my area about them not warrentying broken stuff. Not to mention if you got the stuff from snapon directly or from another truck or ebay, forget your warrenty.

Despite their LONG fill rate on orders I'll stick with MAC. Half the price, better quality IMO, and never argue on exchanges.

I have had several Snap On guys, and only one of them would even question you on warranting anything. I have had a couple horrible MAC guys. They don't last long, and then we don't have a MAC guy at all for long periods of time. It all depends where you are. There is always a Snap On guy though . . . .

It depends where you are and the "There is always a Snap-On guy" doesn't always apply. I go to plenty of shops where the Snap-On guy doesn't show up for a month or two at a time or there simply isn't one. The one Snap-On competitor told a customer of mine "business is slow, guys aren't paying, why should I work everyday?".

I know there are places in this country where Mac rules, there are places where Matco rules, there are places where Cornwell rules, it all depends where and who. Distributors make the tools. I am the guy people see. I was just at a shop where they told me flat out "I thought Matco tools where junk until you showed me the quality of them and your products, I mean I haven't even seen a Matco guy for years before you.". I pointed out to him that I took that stop over from another Matco guy who had been going there for a year. The guy was just NOT a tool salesman. So much so that these guys forgot he ever went there or sold tools.

I have one good Snap-On competitor and that is it. The rest of my competition have terrible reputations for service and reliability. Mac in this area, warranty is a 4 letter word. One local Mac guy won't warranty free items. Namely if you buy an impact and it comes with free sockets, you didn't pay for the sockets so you have to buy them if they break. That is bull**** and ridiculous, but guys still buy from him. I have no concept of why they'd do that. Or if something becomes out of date, you have to pay the price difference for the new replacement if yours is broken. That is bull too. I just replaced a brake flaring tool from the early 80s. Originally it was $45, the replacement for it is $130. I traded it out straight up. It is warranty, not the guys fault they updated the kit.

I fight for my customers. I had Matco deny me a warranty on something I felt should have been warranty, so I went out of my way to email and bitch to the right people and got it covered. Guys shouldn't have to argue about warranty or have to worry about what is gonna happen anytime they break something, that is my responsibility and my job.

All that said, this business isn't as easy as it seems, and some days I want to tell everyone where they can stick their sockets.

Sorry I haven't responded to any PMs or inquiries, been busy and not wanting to think about work when I have a chance to relax. Ok back to work.
