Any Snow Pushers out there??

just thinking of using my K5 for pushing snow... they work great for it due to the short wheel base but mine has a 4 inch lift.. is that to much lift to put a blade on the front??

thanks for any input! :waytogo:

I did some work on a buddies blazer that had a plow on it with 4 inch lift 3/4 tons and 36's. I think it just depends on how you mount the plow, on if it will work. I plowed snow for a few years for a company and also did all of the maintanence on them, plowing is VERY hard on a vehicle. I am slowly building a blazer to use as a plow truck, thats all I am going to use it for.

yes its about the worst thing to do to a truck as far as abuse goes.. im not worried about the drive train, its built to handle a lot of abuse.. i just didnt know if my blazer sat to high for a plow.. she has 35in tires now and im going to switch to 33's.. with 4.56 gears that should give her a little more low end grunt...

It'll be ok, I have a K30 with a 4" and 35" BFG's it plows just fine

search snow plow here or my screen name.

also 2 good sites.

www.plowsite.com

same screen name on both of those also for me.

blazers do good for plowin with short wheel base.

but big thing is what is your main reason for wanting a snow plow on the blazer ?

there's a guy running around town here with a Suburban and a plow on it, on the back window his business name is.. Get Plowed

just thought it was funnt the first time i read it :tongue1:

thanks for the links!!

reason for me wanting a plow is my own properties.. our house drive faces the north and to the west is farm ground.. no matter what i do to block the snow and wind the drive gets blown shut..

It tears up nice trucks. Just saying.

Might consider a beater. My buddy got a beater 3/4 ton a year ago for $250. It's a rattle trap but plows just fine.

i plowed for 6 years with a 1980 k20 and was able to make quite a bit of money with it. then the hydrolick unit failed and i turned it it to a light duty service truck/tow rig that i could use as a on site repair truck for my bobcat and us to pull my tandem axle trailer that i put my bobcat on the back have a snow bucket (drivers side of the trailer) on the front end of the trailr with a snow plow on the other side, and even tho it was a VERY LARGE envestment its paid off 3 fold aready in the last 2 years. that and the bobcat wasn't new, and a bobcat cat can be more versitable then a plow truck, been thinking of getting a snow blower attament for it for some of my larger warehouse lots. but i will say this much that k20 when it was a plow truck always seem to keep my family feed and a roof over my families heads, but the bobcat takes the abause so much better less down time and less money spent in repais when u happen to hit a parking block

i have a 1974 3/4 ton chevy 4x4 camper special.. i was going to make it into a trailer.. it has what i call an elephant spring pack in the rear.. i routinely haul 3500lbs in this truck and she barely squats at all.. last year i hauled rock for a neighbor and on the last load i left the quarry with just over 4000lbs in the box of this truck.. now i could tell with that load that it was over loaded but that was the first time for that...

in order to use her i would need to put some money into her.. but in the long run it would be better doing that then risking my K5 which is a rust free unit from nevada...

That would be a good bet.

I ought to get pics of my buddy's 3/4 ton. Rough. Single exhaust just because one rusted off under the cab and they aren't going to fix it.
