Ive been inactive on here lately and starting to get back into my Blazer. Im still wanting a soft top for mine. I havent kept up if anyone started making them again. Anyways, just wanted to check.

Anyone?

The only thing i know of is can-back. They said they will be starting in april may. I really dont believe them but i bet if enough show interest they might actually produce it. The only problem is it is really expensive. Personally i think it is worth it because of the construction and durability of the materials. I have a STC top that i will sell if they actually make them because i like there style better. And you can put a rack on top with 350 pounds

Is the CanBack the ones that slop at the back? If so, I dont like that design and I carry alot of camping gear, etc. so, I need to retain the same shape as the fiberglass topper.

Nope. I've seen the "we're going to make them [next month][next quarter][next year]", whatever, so many times ;)

any one have detailed pictures of the old tops that were made? why can't some one just make their own up and sell um... there seems to be lots of guys here that would buy them up.....

They have tried it on here but costs were to high or something. I would be willing to take detailed pics of the entire top,- supports brackets and anything needed to make one. Really not that hard if you had a boat shop near you that could cut the fabric and actually make the top. i love my STC but the canback one just looks and preforms ($.02) a lot better.

This is the style i have. Just as much room as the hard top if not more. also taking it off takes me a few minutes. i will be back from dc on the 4th and can get what ever pics you would like to make your own.

Thanks for the reply AUK5.... I think I am going to do my absolute best to make these fur sale... I went to the K5 home page and looked at the few different brands that have a write up on them.... like you said... they can't be that hard to make if given the attention..... I use to be into the Impala and Caprice world back in the day and I made and sold instrument clusters... well it is time to jump into the soft tops I guess..... I would love any pictures you could take and suggestions on your top, what you like, what you don't..... I am actually looking at benders now on the dirty net :D.... guess we will see where this goes....

There's some kind of mystery behind the blazer top! I know at least two other guys besides myself that have a couple grand to drop on a soft top for our K5's, but you get the same ole story everywhere, "shut down" or "it'll be soon, January-August 08 and now maybe May 09". Does anyone want to make some money? Find a way to make a good soft-top for my K10.

to tell you the truth i like my op but as soon as can-back (if they ever do) i am going to buy one of theirs and probably and extra canvas top. Simply for the fact that they might only make them for a little bit and if they go out of business again and my top breaks well no big deal i can replace it. as our trucks are getting older less and less people want to make aftermarket things that only apply to our trucks. if i were to make one it would def. be like can-back and have the frame with the canvas over it. i like to boxyness and alsothe fact you can put a luggage rack on it support 350 pounds

I personally love the look of this one and if they actually do i will take the months pay and spend it on that top. I think it is worth it even though it is high. the current one i am afraid when i move up north i will have to put the hard top in the winter well this one i am fairly certain it could support some snow.

Maybe if everyone that wants a can-back would go to there website and tell them you are interested in buying one, they would make them sooner.

I'd love to have a soft top for mine. I even had the cash some time ago but couldn't find any on ebay. Personaly, I think a company could make a decent ammount of money by producing a soft top. Heck they make a soft top for nearly every Jeep ever built...why not K5's? I'm sure there is a big market for '73 Cj soft tops  (yes I understand that they fit a wide range of years...but still).

I have since scraped plans to find a soft top, and plan on building a half cab and tonneau cover for the back. But that's on the back burner.

Well guys i think that we need signatures to get this done. I think maybe if theres enough of us we can sign up maybe on a sheet. Then we can send it to Can-Back and they will understand how much demand there is for this soft top. Maybe we can get an administrator to post a sign up sheet of some kind for the people that have the money to buy the top right now. or even a survey of people that have the money and want a top now and the people that are very interested in the top and will have the cash later on.

I would love to have a soft top but I might end up getting my local boat shop to make one if nobody makes one.

The hard part will be fabbing up the supports. Can you use a roll cage as part of the support? I would like to maybe kill two birds in one stone

I offered to buy the patter for whatever price from bestop just to see if they would sell it and they said 'f' off. I have a '75 that would love one.

They don't gotta jerks about it. They should make them if they won sell the patten

yes or kayline (same company just was bought out but STC.) Trust me i send them e-mails every month saying im interested. as soon as i pick it up from the shop( getting the transfer case resealed) ill get pics of my supports.
