Has anyone had success datalogging from a 16147060 ECM? I finnaly got a USB/serial adapter and my aldl cable registers, but I can not pick up any chatter when I connect to my aldl port.
If you have had success on this, what program are you using? Any help is appreciated.

thanks,
Keith

Yah, I have the $85 defenition file from Moates and have been spending hours on thirdgen, but have not quite figured how to connect yet. It may be my USB adapter, but I do not know how to verify that.
thanks anyhow.

I know some people were having troubles with certain USB adapters, Radio Shacks?

Are you using a program that can "test" the cable?

It is not a Radio Shack but I do not recognize the brand. I do not have a program that tests the cable. At one point my TunerPro showed that the cable was connected, but still no connection to the ECM. Now I can not even get TunerPro to show that it is connected.
I will search for a program to test it.

Where in Seattle are you? I get up to Seattle usually once a month for work.
thanks again.

I should change my sig, I moved South of Tacoma.

Tunerpro I think has a place in there to check the cable...it may be in settings, as I know somewhere in it there is a place you can make changes regarding the cable itself...Max232, etc.

USB aldl cable problems. Windows XP go to start, control panel, Administrative tools, computer management and device manager. Make sure there are no problems on the com port or USB hub like red x. Click on the com port and check the driver. ALDL cables has the proper drivers available on their site.

When hooked up go to start, all programs, accessories, hyper terminal and look for activity. Also when plugged in using WinALDL you can click on properties on the com port to adjust baud rate.

Welcome to USB cables. Lots of info on aldl cables site.

To "close the loop" on this: I bought a USB cable from aldlcables.com http://www.aldlcables.com/ I placed my online order at 3:30pm ish and received the cable the next day in the mail. The cable came with a cd w/ USB drivers on it and a handfull of datalog programs.
It works right out of the box. I installed the driver and fired up TunerPro and hooked it up. The cable and connectors seem to be of a very good quality as well.

Thanks for the input from you guys.
