Has anybody on here put a toyota body onto a k5 chassis?
Thinking about putting a 1987 toyota cab and front, no bed, onto my 79 k5 chassis (7.4/4l80e/203/205, 14bff/d60 on 40s, linked rear, etc). Rough measurements show the wheelbase almost the same but the toyota is about 14in narrower in the body.
Just curious if anyone had done this and if so, what issues and pitfalls came along? Im thinking probably have to switch to full hydraulic steering. Running xover and high steer right now in the k5. I imagine some custom body mounts but that's not difficult.
Since my rear is linked id probably cut off everything from the rear axle back on the k5, new fuel cell would be necessary then. I dunno, just tossing this idea around. Any pics anyone has would be greatly welcome.
