anybody else get to this point in their project?

maybe Im confused here... why sell it again?if its a money issue, just wait, you'll get more.
a couple reasons actually. i HAVE the parts to put my rig together 3/4 ton with standard lift springs. everything from the steering, to the driveshafts. 0 to buy to put it together that way, with the exception of bushings for the front springs.
No matter what happens now, I have a 1 ton rig on 40s. :)
that's great, you say you did a swap, im guessing you wheeled this rig on either 1/2 ton or 3/4 ton axles at some point. i have 0 experience with a rig with a wheelbase this short, nor something as heavy as a decked out 1 tonned rig. i have wheeled a K20 on 35s, and a my stock '91 K1500. building a 1 tonned rig seems pretty stupid now that i think of it. i have no idea what to do with a truck that big, plain and simple. if i dont know how to handle the rig, that's almost a sure fire way for someone to get hurt.
Until then, you still have a half ton axle to run up front... right?
3/4 tons which i originally bought to put under this rig.
...or wait till ya got the $ and do free upgrades in the meantime. you can doooo it! and you'll be glad you did too.
that would be great, except the waiting part is another big part of what is killing me. i have been staring at piles of parts for over a year now. i'm tired of it, i want to breathe some life into this beast, and then do everything i can to take the life away. if i waited for the $ to roll in, you'd still see me here on CK5 in 2017 posting about my rig that has been in progress for the last 13 years, and still hasnt left the garage. this thing isnt going to just downsize itself, nor is it just going to magically transfer the knowledge of how to handle it to my just by planting my ass in the seat. i want to wheel, i have the parts to build a trail machine, although not the bulletproof hardcore trail machine that my vision has evolved into, but a capable rig none the less. as for the money issue, i have to buy a set of wheels and tires, buy a clutch setup (flywheel, friction, etc) and build an engine. i've got just under $1K in my toy fund right now, a newly found Snap On bill, 2 dead Grand Ams to repair and sell to pay off a little more credit card debt, plus my other misc expenses. selling the 60 to complete SOMETHING just makes sense to me. the trail rig seems to be the perfect thing to finish, because i wont be as tempted to go crossover, hydro assist, locked, and all that good stuff right away. dont get me wrong, i'd love to do it. with my drivin ability, my want to get the truck on the trail and my want to complete something so i'm not just looking at spare parts, selling and downsizing a bit just makes sense to me.

id just bite the bullet and sell the 60 and whatever else you can. then get your junk together and go wheel it for a while like it is, with the exception of the free stuff and small stuff youll need done at some point.

if your so dead set on selling the d60 why ask:confused: and with the springs just get a raised steering arm for the d60 but whatever :surepal:

wasnt asking what i should do, i've come to a point where i know i'm in over my head, and already started to buy the parts to overbuild. just wondering if anyone has done the same, or something similar.

as of right now, i think the 60 will be finding a new home. it just makes more sense for me right now.

The first time you break something in the front end you will realize why this is a bad idea.

i can see that, to a point. but, just having the 60 in the truck, the first time i wheel it will be several months later (if not more) than if i were to run the 10 bolt. running the 10 bolt, i'll be wheeling this spring, running the 60, who knows. yeah, it wont be bulletproof, but it could be made to survive. if i decide later that i need the 60, i'll just find another one.

Steering block for D60....$65???? You will get to be a better driver ( more comfortable ) with the rig,you will drive it harder, you will want a stronger truck, you will be broke running a 44 ( snap ) anyway.....Keep the 60.:D

what do you guys not understand about me being tired of staring at a pile of parts? if i sell, i can finish my rig by spring, if i keep it, i'm still stuck on the sidelines with a damn pile of parts.

Just get it wheelable and go have fun. If it becomes a never ending project, what fun is that?

I vote sell the 60, run the TC's and stock style steering, keep the tire size under 37" and dont drive like a jackass. You will have more fun with a rig that is wheelable but doesnt have big dollar parts and huge tires than you will with a pile of big dollar parts and a rig that doesnt move with huge tires sitting in the back yard.

The truck in my avatar started out as a mint condition pavment pounder that was just going to tow my boat and my toyota. Not anymore, and while it still only has 1/2 tons, skinny tires and a body lift, i have a blast wheeling it. And in the end, thats all that matters.

yea, just get it wheelable in time for east coast blazer bash. im thinking about going, even if its just riding with someone. hopefully ill be able to bring my truck and wheel with Tim and You
