85 ground
86 batt
87 light
30 switch
I have actually come across a vey obscure relay that is wired something like that. But that is not the norm. I'm not sure why they were made like that. I thought at the time that I'd just bought a dodgey relay. If yours works ok like that then fine, but most common relays are as 2Dogs' diagram.

im wiring mine up like 2dogs diagram exept im using 6 lights, switches and relays. im also using both accesorie prongs instead of just one.alittle more wire to run but thats fine. i had all the relays already so its no biggy.

2Dogs is correct. You could switch pin 30 and 87 for this application and it will still work. You'll only have a problem switching those pins if you need to use the normally closed contact 87A.

mine has the stock KC relay but has a pic of the connections on the side so it works for me:dunno: .

might have a problem with what is shown in the diagram though.....with 2 grounds coming off of the switch your power is going to take the path of least resistance. depending on which has a higher volt is going to determine which one will not work.

I would just wire the light in series with the relay, but you will have a problem if the light burns out then your relay wouldn't get power.
